A good friend of mine contacted me for info on playing Collier Park Golf Course, for his elderly uncle coming from Adelaide.

What follows is a rough outline of our conversation.

Welcome to Golf Corner, Perth’s leading Golf Travel Specialist , I am Paul Deans the owner.

The fun of attacking island greens is one of my pleasures with paying golf, Collier Park offers 2 semi island greens to test you. Depending on what nine you choose as they offer 27 Holes.

Courses

The Pines course is great for mid-high handicap social golfers or those just looking for fun round with friends.

The Island course is a traditional parklands style par 36 layout with plenty of bunkers and water hazards to test golfers of all levels.

The Lake course has a distinctive links style feel with wide open fairways, so accuracy from the tee and distance control are the keys to mastering this course.

The Challenge

Even for the high handicapper all of these courses will be a challenge but very enjoyable. Low to mid handicappers can score easily on each of the courses with a slope rating of 122 – 123 depending on the course combination you play.

Like most public Golf Courses they can get really busy, however each time I have played Collier Park after the first couple of holes it has always moved along nicely, rarely playing time gets over 4 hours.

Take some extra balls due the number of water holes in play, if you do hit the trees don’t worry too much as it is quite open and rarely will you loose a ball here.

Bookings are easily made online with Collier Park.

Launching in March 2021, Collier Park’s Fairway Golf Club is a social golf club designed to help golfers of all levels gain and maintain their official handicap and enjoy VIP benefits at Collier Park Golf facilities and Pro Shop. Become a member today and enjoy: Membership is only $199

Walk or Cart? If you have trouble walking then yes hire a cart otherwise the course is flat so walking it is a breeze.

Facilities

The Pro Shop is well stocked with all the latest clubs and gear, and some great discounted clothing. Purchasing alcohol and drinks at the kiosk is very reasonable, however remember we are in Perth so if you want to take alcohol on the course they will open all the bottles prior to leaving the Kiosk!!!! What the??? I know right!!! Nanny state of WA… Ok i have moved on!!!…

If you are the type of Golfer that likes to get to the course early and practice, you will enjoy the large chipping and putting areas. One thing I don’t like is the driving range tee boxes as they are astro turf and not grass, just my preference.

Located in Como, Perth, it is only 5 minutes from the city centre by car.

My thoughts…..

Now one thing that has always impressed me is how well the condition of the course is maintained. The fairways are well kept and tidy, however the real star is the greens!!!! OMG how the green staff keep them so well maintained and running  true is very commendable it will have you wanting to return time after time.

Reach out to me if you need any further info on Collier Park Golf Course or any course in WA. Having over 20 years experience in the Golf Travel Business I believe I have a thing or two to share with you.

All the best.

Paul
