Bali Golf Cost Index 2026: What Australian Golfers Actually Pay
Green fees, all-in round costs, caddie tips, and transfer costs across Bali’s three active championship courses — the complete cost picture no other guide publishes
Key Findings
- Bali has three active championship courses in 2026: New Kuta Golf (IDR 2,200,000, ~AUD $176), Bali Handara (IDR 1,600,000–2,000,000, ~AUD $128–$160), and Bukit Pandawa (IDR 1,750,000, ~AUD $140)
- Bali National Golf Club permanently closed on 30 April 2025 — multiple guides and booking platforms still list it as active
- Mandatory caddie tips of IDR 250,000–300,000 (~AUD $20–$24) per round are not included in published green fees and add 11–19% to the actual cost of a round
- Transfer costs from south Bali to Handara (2-hour mountain drive) add AUD $36–$72 per person depending on group size — a cost absent from every competitor pricing page
- Bukit Pandawa is an 18-hole par-3 layout, not a par-72 championship course — a distinction most aggregator sites fail to make
1. What This Research Covers
Bali is the closest international golf destination for most Australian golfers — under 7 hours from Perth with minimal time zone adjustment. Yet the cost picture presented by most online guides is incomplete or outdated. Multiple booking platforms still list Bali National Golf Club, which permanently closed in April 2025. None of them consolidate the total cost of a round including caddie tips and transfers in a single comparable format.
This is original research combining independently verifiable published green fee rates from BaliGolfSpot, gogolf.co.id, and Leading Courses with Golf Corner operator booking data spanning 2005–2026. All prices are in AUD (1 AUD ≈ IDR 12,500, checked June 2026 via xe.com). Source IDR figures are shown in tables for verification.

2. Bali’s Three Active Championship Courses
New Kuta Golf
Indonesia’s first links-style course, designed by Ronald Fream on the limestone cliffs of the Bukit Peninsula. Par 72, 6,713 yards from the championship tees. Located 20 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport — the most conveniently located championship course in Bali. Published green fee: IDR 2,200,000 (~AUD $176), including green fee, shared cart, caddie service, player insurance, and mineral water. Caddie tip minimum IDR 250,000–300,000 (~AUD $20–$24) is not included.
Bali Handara Golf & Resort
Par 72, 6,983 yards, set inside a volcanic crater at 1,142 metres above sea level in the Bedugul highlands. Designed by Peter Thomson (five-time British Open champion), Michael Wolveridge, and Ronald Fream. Opened 1974 — Bali’s oldest golf course. Published green fees vary by booking channel: resort official rate IDR 2,000,000 (~AUD $160, source: SatuSatu, April 2026); operator rate via BaliGolfSpot IDR 1,600,000 (~AUD $128). Both rates include cart, caddie, and insurance. Caddie tip minimum IDR 200,000 (~AUD $16) additional. Located approximately 65 km from the airport — a 2 to 2.5 hour drive through rice terraces and highland villages.
Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club
Southeast Asia’s first 18-hole par-3 championship course. This is not a par-72 layout — a distinction most aggregator sites fail to make. Published green fee: IDR 1,750,000 (~AUD $140, source: BaliGolfSpot cross-reference). Includes cart and caddie. Weekend and public holiday rates are typically 10–15% higher (source: baligolfers.com). Caddie tip minimum IDR 200,000 (~AUD $16) additional.
| Course | Type | Published Rate (IDR) | AUD Approx | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Kuta Golf | Par 72, 18 holes | 2,200,000 | ~$176 | Green fee, cart, caddie, insurance |
| Bali Handara (resort rate) | Par 72, 18 holes | 2,000,000 | ~$160 | Green fee, cart, caddie, insurance |
| Bali Handara (operator rate) | Par 72, 18 holes | 1,600,000 | ~$128 | Green fee, cart, caddie, insurance |
| Bukit Pandawa | Par 3, 18 holes | 1,750,000 | ~$140 | Green fee, cart, caddie |
3. Bali National Golf Club — Permanently Closed
Bali National Golf Club in Nusa Dua permanently closed on 30 April 2025. As of June 2026, multiple booking aggregators and golf travel guides still list it as an active course. Any itinerary or pricing guide that includes Bali National is out of date.
The closure reduced Bali’s championship par-72 course count from three to two (New Kuta and Handara). Bukit Pandawa is 18 holes but par-3 only. For Australian golfers planning a multi-round Bali trip, this means the two remaining par-72 courses are separated by a 2-hour drive — south Bali (New Kuta) versus the Bedugul highlands (Handara). A 4-round itinerary now requires at least one highland transfer that was previously avoidable when Bali National was available in Nusa Dua.
4. The True All-In Cost of a Round in Bali
Published green fees are not the total cost. Two additional expenses apply to every round played in Bali: caddie tips (mandatory by custom) and transfers (significant for Handara). No other pricing guide consolidates these into a single comparable table.
| Course | Green Fee (AUD) | Caddie Tip (AUD) | Transfer (AUD, per person) | All-In Total (AUD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Kuta Golf | $176 | ~$22 | ~$18 | ~$216 |
| Bali Handara (resort rate) | $160 | ~$16 | ~$36 | ~$212 |
| Bali Handara (operator rate) | $128 | ~$16 | ~$36 | ~$180 |
| Bukit Pandawa (par 3) | $140 | ~$16 | ~$18 | ~$174 |
Transfer Costs
Transfers from south Bali (Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran) to New Kuta Golf or Bukit Pandawa cost approximately IDR 450,000 (~AUD $36) per car round trip for 1–4 persons. The same transfer to Bali Handara — a 2-hour mountain drive each way — costs IDR 800,000–900,000 (~AUD $64–$72) per car round trip. Some operators include transfers in package pricing; when booked independently, these costs add meaningfully to the daily spend, particularly for solo travellers who cannot split the car cost.
5. Bali vs. Australian Golf — What the Same Money Buys
AUD $176 at New Kuta Golf buys an 18-hole championship round on a links-style clifftop course with a dedicated professional caddie, shared cart, insurance, and mineral water. AUD $176 at a comparable Australian public course buys a green fee with no caddie and a shared cart hire charged on top.
Bali Handara’s operator rate of AUD $128 is less than a single round at Barnbougle Dunes (approximately AUD $275–$350 peak season). That Handara round includes a dedicated caddie, cart, and insurance in a volcanic highland setting at 1,142 metres altitude. No equivalent caddie service exists at Australian public courses at any price point.
Golf Corner’s packaged Bali itineraries bundle green fees, accommodation, caddies, carts, and private transfers into a single per-person rate that is consistently lower than booking each element independently. View current Bali package pricing for the latest rates. A comparable 7-night, 4-round domestic Australian golf holiday at equivalent accommodation standard costs significantly more, without the caddie service that is standard across all Bali courses.
