Mauritius sits in a league of its own as an Indian Ocean golf destination. The island packs over a dozen championship layouts into an area smaller than Greater Sydney.
Designers like Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, and Peter Matkovich have all left their mark on the terrain. For Australian golfers exploring Mauritius golf holidays, the quality on offer is hard to match anywhere in the Asia-Pacific region.
This guide covers the courses that feature in our Mauritius golf tour packages, along with a broader overview of what the island has to offer.

Anahita Golf Club
Designed by Ernie Els and opened in 2008, Anahita is widely regarded as one of the finest courses in the Indian Ocean. Built to USGA standards within a former sugar plantation on the east coast, the 18-hole par 72 layout features five sets of tees.
Six holes run directly along the crystal-clear lagoon. The closing shot is consistently cited as one of the most spectacular in world golf.
The course is integrated with the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius, so every touchpoint matches that property's calibre. Anahita rewards precision rather than power.
Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club
Ile aux Cerfs is unlike any course most Australian golfers will have played. Designed by Bernhard Langer, the 18-hole championship layout sits on an offshore island reached by a short boat transfer.
The course weaves across volcanic outcrops, crystal-clear lakes, and lush tropical greenery. The Indian Ocean is visible from almost every hole.
Water comes into play on several holes, demanding strategy rather than distance. If you can only play one course in Mauritius, most golfers who have been here will tell you to make it Ile aux Cerfs.
Mont Choisy Le Golf
Designed by Peter Matkovich and opened in October 2017, the 18-hole par 72 layout occupies a historic sugar cane plantation in the north of the island. Matkovich built the routing around the existing mature trees, which line most fairways.
The practice facilities, clubhouse, and course conditioning are all to a high standard. Mont Choisy has already hosted national and international tournaments.
This course rewards course management over raw distance. Pick the right line and the scoring opportunities are there.
Other Courses Worth Knowing
Heritage Golf Club in the south operates two courses. Le Chateau is a Peter Matkovich parkland layout opened in 2004 and host of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour.
La Reserve Golf Links was co-designed by Matkovich and Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen, opening in December 2023. It is the Indian Ocean's first true links course.
Tamarina Golf Club on the southwest coast sits beneath Rempart Mountain, with Tamarin Bay visible through the trees. Belle Mare Plage on the east coast operates two 18-hole courses, The Legend and The Links.

Mauritius golf is premium-level travel. The courses are integrated into five-star resort properties, tee times require advance booking, and logistics across the island need careful planning.
As part of our escorted golf tours, everything is pre-arranged before you board the plane. Tee times at Anahita, Ile aux Cerfs, and Mont Choisy are locked in, and I brief every group on what to expect at each course.
